Legacy Giving

As a supporter of BDRC, you appreciate the importance and impact of our mission. By making a legacy gift, you can help to safeguard and make accessible Buddhist texts, for the benefit of all, for all time. There are several types of bequest to consider.

Add BDRC to your Will or Trust

By making BDRC a beneficiary of your will or trust, your generosity will support the lamas, monks, nuns, translators, scholars, practitioners and many others who rely on BDRC, and who will continue to benefit from our archive for generations to come.

Please consider speaking to your attorney or tax professional about including BDRC in your estate planning, and ask about the current tax benefits of donating to a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

Make BDRC a Beneficiary

Another option is to designate BDRC as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy or financial account. This can be as simple as completing a new beneficiary form, or you can make a designation in your will.

Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and you are aged 70 ½ or older, you can donate to BDRC and save on taxes. Instead of taking the taxable Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) each year, you can ask your IRA custodian to send payments directly to BDRC. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). When the distribution goes straight from your IRA to a charity, without you receiving the money first, you avoid paying tax on the RMD. Please consider asking your IRA custodian or your tax preparer for more information about donating from your IRA to BDRC.
